From fairy gardens to magic in the woods, and everything in between, Art Barn School of Art offers many unique programs outside of their regular class schedule. Summer camps, seasonal classes and workshops are available for children ages 5-18. There are four different themes during the summer, so each week brings something fun and new for camp goers.

Art Barn Celebrates 26th Juried Art Exhibit


Art-Barn-Celebrates-26th-Juried-Art-ExhibitThe Art Barn School of Art is delighted to announce our 26th Annual Juried Art Exhibition from May 18 through June 27, 2019. We are proud to continue the longstanding tradition and dream of our late founder Jan Sullivan. The purpose of the exhibition is to promote the creation and recognition of original quality 2-dimensional works of art. The exhibition attracted 202 entries from 85 aspiring and established artists from Northern Indiana, Chicago and its suburbs. There are 90 pieces selected for the show ranging from painting, drawing, collage, printmaking and mixed media.

The Lubeznik Center for the Arts showcases new art forms with performance by Michigan City Moves

Friday evening, art was brought to life at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, where guests were moved by the newly formed Michigan City Moves’ performance entitled “Disruption.” The Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) featured these talented performers as an extension of their “Nature vs. Everything” exhibit. Michigan City Moves activated the exhibition while inspiring their audience to think outside of the box.

Art Barn School of Art launches new ceramic arts program this April

In April, the Art Barn School of Art in Valparaiso will be offering new ceramics classes. Thanks to a grant from Porter County Community Foundation (PCCF), the school was able to purchase equipment and convert what was originally old storage space into a brand new Ceramics Art Studio.

Students fuel creativity with a cause for National Heart Month

This year, Porter Regional Hospital joined with local students to advocate the awareness of National Heart Month through works of art or, ‘heart-work.’ The project was inspired by the message, “Show Us Your Heart”, encouraging 3rd- 5th graders from some Porter County elementary schools to get creative in a meaningful way. Today, students from Portage Township School Corporation, Duneland School Corporation, and Valparaiso School Corporation showcased their artwork at Porter Regional Hospital.
