“It’s an old tradition here in Michigan City for the Santa Claus and Santa’s house which is a replica of the old one from the 60’s and 70’s,” said Fire Chief Randy Novak, of Michigan City Fire Department. “We brought it back and we’re trying to make it as authentic as we can.”
Thursday evening Albert’s Diamond Jewelers in Schererville hosted their 16th annual Ladies Night event. The tradition started when they first initially moved to their Schererville location nearly 17 years ago, and it has been a hit ever since. In fact, attendees were so eager to get the night started, that the line lined around the entire store, well before the event’s official kick off at 5:00pm.
Albert’s Marketing Coordinator and Social Media Specialist, Christine Martinez, said it’s a great way for local ladies to get together and kick off the holiday season.

Lights sparkled in the snow at Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana on Thursday when they hosted their Light the Night for Senior Hunger Winter Lights Kickoff. This holiday season, Meals on Wheels is collecting donations for their Light the Night campaign, their most successful fundraiser. This year they added a new partner to ensure they can provide meals and support to more seniors than ever, NIPSCO.
