NIETF Celebrates Their 24th Awards Gala By Recognizing and Honoring Members of the Theatre Community
Theatre came alive in NWI on Sunday night, and it happened all in one room. Northwest Indiana Theatre in Excellence Foundation celebrated their 24th annual NIETF Awards Gala, which highlighted another fantastic year in theatre within our three county region. The awards showcased talent on stage, and behind the stage by playing a big part in both dramas and musicals.

Chicago Street Theater is embarking on their 62nd season of community theatre, and on August 25 they invited the public to see a preview of the 2016/2017 productions. The event allows those interested in seeing the shows a chance to learn more about plotlines and themes.
This Saturday, August 13, the Harmonies for Healing “Supergroup” will be performing with Under the Streetlamp at the Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, Ind.
Chicago Street Theatre will bring a favorite children's novel to life when Harriet the Spy opens on Friday, August 19, 2016. Based on the novel by Louise Fitzhugh and written by Leslie Brody, the family presentation kicks off the company's 62nd season of bringing the art of live theatre to the community with 11 performances running through September 3. Tickets for the performances are $12 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and groups of ten or more and can be purchased online at ChicagoStreet.org or by calling the theatre's Box Office at 219-464-1636 X1.
The Northwest Indiana Excellence in Theatre Foundation (NIETF) constantly strives to make a positive impact in the community through arts. They did just this during the 4th Annual NIETF Theatrepalooza, a free theatre festival held on the afternoon of Sunday, August 7 at Chesterton High School.
There is no better place in Porter County to celebrate and have a great time than the William Urschel Pavilion. The Memorial Opera House Foundation threw it back a couple of decades during the Back to the 50’s Sock Hop on the evening of Friday, July 22nd. The proceeds garnered during the event went to support Memorial Opera House.
Valparaiso’s Central Park Plaza was jam-packed with smiles, food, and music on the evening of Friday, July 8. The crowd anxiously and patiently waited for Chicago Street Theatre’s debut of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. The audience was made up of citizens of all ages, demonstrating the inclusive nature of the production.
