Representing children from all over Northwest Indiana, Southlake Children’s Choir spring concert will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Valparaiso University Chapel of the Resurrection.
“We can’t wait to hear the children’s voices soar in the chapel’s high ceilings,” said Rebecca Bailey, SCC board member. “It’ll be a great learning experience for them; indeed, one of our missions is to give children performing experience in a wide range of conditions.”
The ensembles of the Southlake Children's Choir will be performing a wide variety of music, including classical and folk music, spirituals, and Broadway show tunes, due to SCC’s upcoming performance trip to New York City.
Admission is $8 at the door for adults and $6 for children and seniors.
“Our choir gives children formal music education that can’t be duplicated anywhere else, at a cost far less than private lessons,” said Bailey. “Many of our members have gone on to become music professionals, but the education we give students will benefit them not only on the stage but also in the board room.”
