WVLP 2015 Music Shows


Did you know that there are so many great shows that you can listen to on WVLP? Now that they are streaming to more people all over the country, more people can take part. There are different genres that the eclectic array of hosts touch on like community issues, money, politics, sports, health, and a wide variety of music.

Below are the music-centered shows that can be heard on WVLP each week. Click here to see the complete schedule!

Blues You Can Use
Shows On: Wednesday
Bill Paige hosts WVLP's longest tenured music show, now approaching its eleventh year, of blues-based music. Everything from the roots of The Blues to blues rock is on display, and Bill adds informative commentary throughout. The show airs Wednesdays 8-10pm and rebroadcasts Saturdays noon-2pm.

Real Country
Shows On: Monday, Saturday
If traditional country music is your thing, show host Tony Rose will give you the best the genre has to offer. Not only will you hear the classic artists, you will authoritative insights and biographical information as well. Tony’s personal relationships with many of these artists, and his occasional interview, adds a personal touch. The show airs Mondays 1-2pm and rebroadcasts Saturdays 9-10am.

Windiana
Shows On: Friday
Hosted by Jeff Doebler, professor of music education at Valparaiso University, Windiana is the namesake and extension of Jeff's "Northwest Indiana Wind Ensemble", and his show features their performances with background provided by Dr. Doebler. The show airs Friday 1-2pm.

Art of the Song
Shows On: Monday, Tuesday
A show hosted by John Dillon and Viv Nesbitt exploring universal truths common to all creative expression. They explore the creative process, whether it be music, writing, visual arts, or just living your life as a work of art. We all have a song to sing. The show airs Tuesday 4-5pm and rebroadcasts Monday 10-11am.

Saturday Soundboard
Shows On: Saturday, Wednesday
A unique show hosted by Joel Hickman, guitar virtuoso and instructor, which features unknown music, local or "indie", with the occasional guest performer or even Joel himself. The show airs Saturday 3-4pm and rebroadcasts Wednesday 4-5pm.

Sounds From The Global Village
Shows On: Sunday
A musical trip around the world hosted by Jake Longwell. It's a mix of traditional and contemporary musical genres from every corner of the globe, along with in depth background on the selections, artists, and countries of origin. The show airs Sunday 4-5pm.

Positive Vibes Radio
Shows On: Friday, Sunday
Music to "chill out" to, a sunny mix of music hosted by Herb Stepherson, with an emphasis on the "indie" scene with a mix of jam bands and off-the-radar artists. Has a college town vibe to it, perfect for a Sunday evening. The show airs Sundays 5-7pm.

Progression
Shows On: Sunday, Thursday
An authoritative, niche music show hosted by The Prog King which features the progressive rock genre throughout the ages, from every corner of the world. While the focus is on progressive rock, many related genres are tossed into the rich mixture. The primary emphasis is on obscurities. The show airs Thursday 5-7pm and rebroadcasts Sunday 9-11am.

All Access Radio (Voice of Hip Hop)

Jazz
Shows On: Friday
A program hosted by Joe Alessi and Erin Brown which features the best in America's musical pastime, Jazz. The show airs Friday 6-8pm.

Left of Center
Shows On: Friday, Wednesday
Down to earth show focused on "indie" music of the singer-songwriter bent. Hosted by Robert Rolf Fedderson and his wife, Terri, you not only will hear many undiscovered artists, you will also hear some of Robert's work as well. Robert has been active in music for years and joins WVLP after a tenure with a low-power FM in Michigan. The show airs Wednesday 7-8pm and rebroadcasts Friday 4-5pm.

The Jazz Scene
Shows On: Sunday
The Jazz Scene, hosted by Jake Longwell, offers listeners an hour of the best in classic and contemporary mainstream Jazz. The show airs Friday noon-1pm.

Songs from Camp
Shows On: Tuesday, Wednesday
Fun show hosted by Mickey Camp with an emphasis on singer-songwriters with the occasional studio guest and performance. The show airs Tuesday 7-9pm and rebroadcasts Wednesday 1-3pm.

Punk Rock Radio
Shows On: Monday, Sunday
Join Tony-D and Dave-O for two hours of pure Punk Rock, or "Prock", as they term it! Raucous, zanny and energetic, fans of "hard core" will delight over the witty and wacky back-and-forth between the hosts, as well as the obscure selections they play. The show airs Mondays 8-10pm and rebroadcasts Sunday 8-10pm.

The Blues Drive
Shows On: Wednesday

Inner Mounting Flame
Shows On: Sunday, Tuesday
Comprehensive show hosted by The Prog King which focuses extensively on jazz rock and jazz fusion, and might be seen as a companion to his show Progression. Of course,, the emphasis is on the obscure acts of the genre. The show airs Sunday 8-9am and rebroadcasts Tuesdays 11-midnight.

Outside the Dial
Shows On: Saturday, Thursday
Well-produced underground music show hosted by "Pitch Shifter" where the vision is to serve as an alternative to corporate radio. The show airs Saturday 5-7pm and rebroadcasts Thursday 9-10pm.

Livin' It Up
Shows On: Thursday, Tuesday
Exciting show hosted by John King which not only focuses on rock's "buried treasures", but also focuses on local artists and hosting live performances in the studio. "Livin' It Up" is an extension of John's annual festival which raises money for The Special Olympics. The show airs Thursday 7-9pm and rebroadcasts Tuesday 9-11pm.

The Eclectic Blender
Shows On: Sunday, Wednesday
A clever mixture of music hosted Jeff Schultz and Jim Wolf. You never know what you'll hear, but you can be assured the music they play is unique to their program and WVLP. The show airs Wednesday 10-midnight and rebroadcasts Sundays 10-midnight.
