From fairy gardens to magic in the woods, and everything in between, Art Barn School of Art offers many unique programs outside of their regular class schedule. Summer camps, seasonal classes and workshops are available for children ages 5-18. There are four different themes during the summer, so each week brings something fun and new for camp goers.
The Art Barn School of Art is delighted to announce our 26th Annual Juried Art Exhibition from May 18 through June 27, 2019. We are proud to continue the longstanding tradition and dream of our late founder Jan Sullivan. The purpose of the exhibition is to promote the creation and recognition of original quality 2-dimensional works of art. The exhibition attracted 202 entries from 85 aspiring and established artists from Northern Indiana, Chicago and its suburbs. There are 90 pieces selected for the show ranging from painting, drawing, collage, printmaking and mixed media.

Ladies at Journey Senior Living of Valparaiso were pampered Saturday morning during the first annual “Mom-Mosa and Makeover” event. The assisted living and memory care community transformed their dining area with feminine decor as residents and their guests enjoyed brunch, mimosas, live entertainment, and a Mary Kay makeover.
Hundreds of people, families, and friends flooded downtown Valparaiso’s Central Park Plaza this Sunday afternoon, all with a common purpose: to remember loved ones they’ve lost, share their stories, and show love and support for the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) of Northwest Indiana and their hospice program.
Friday evening, art was brought to life at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, where guests were moved by the newly formed Michigan City Moves’ performance entitled “Disruption.” The Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) featured these talented performers as an extension of their “Nature vs. Everything” exhibit. Michigan City Moves activated the exhibition while inspiring their audience to think outside of the box.

The Valpo Parks Foundation invited the community to celebrate their annual awards reception, Friends & Legends, Thursday May 2. The evening focused on fellowship, honoring four special individuals with prestigious awards. Guests enjoyed hor d'oeuvres by Pikks Tavern of Valpo and entertainment by Valparaiso High School Jazz Band. The awards—Legendary Friend Awards, Community Champion Award, and the Malasto Legends Award—were presented to individuals who dedicated their time, hearts, and talents to the Valparaiso community through The Valpo Parks Foundation.
Dedicated community leader and generous philanthropist Catherine Hiler is a true community servant and supporter of Center for Hospice Care (CHC) and the Hospice Foundation, so it was only fitting that she was celebrated on the evening of May 1 among more than 500 attendees at the organization’s biggest event of the year, the Helping Hands Award Dinner.
