On June 3rd, Wheeler graduated one of the most successful classes it has ever seen. The class of 2018 made achievements across the board. Success was seen within academics, athletics, fine arts, and extra curriculars. The senior class was highly involved in various clubs and activities at the school.
Megan Blanton Vittetoe knows the importance of surrounding herself with positive and uplifting people. She loves helping others and giving back to her community in every way she can.
How are we already midway through June? Well, here we are all the same. Think back to those long winter days and nights in January and February and the disappointing spring days of March and April that teased us with pleasant weather only to snatch it away again. Farewell, Class of 2018
Graduation ceremonies were held on June 1. The festivities began with the baccalaureate service at 6:30. Pastor Kevin Birky of Mulberry Tree Ministries stepped away from the microphone to intimately address the graduates. The theme of his message was about going the distance. He mentioned that the strength of your foundation determines how fow you can go, much like a house. Pastor Birky cautioned graduates to keep their identity and where they came from in mind when making choices in the future.
What’s Going On?
The most obvious highlight of the last few weeks at VHS was the 2018 prom, with this year’s theme being Midnight Rendezvous. With the Porter County Expo Center decked out in masquerade decor and the typical features of a high school prom, students were treated to a delight of a time on May 18th.
Anne Marie Rini, Behavioral Treatment Specialist at Porter Starke Services, loves to give back to her community through her work. She discovered the secret to finding her perfect career; making a contribution to her community.
It's June and what better way to glide into Summer than with some fun-filled events in Northwest Indiana? This weekend will feature a Chalk Walk, concerts, art, markets, hikes, bikes, and much more!
What’s Going On:
The final bell rang for Chesterton High School at 2:45 on May 25, signaling the end of another successful school year. Students trudged through the last week, taking finals left and right, but the painstaking testing process was made easier by gifts from Student Government. At the beginning of the week, StuGo leaders and helpers taped a little note on everyone’s locker, reading, “Hey smartie! Good luck on finals!” with a pack of Smarties. The treat motivated all the students to keep going and make it through those last four days.
