To celebrate the new location, St. Mary Medical Center held a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

This is not the first time that Muller Acura has hosted the Blood Mobile at the dealership to aid them in their life saving mission.

The endoscopy unit portion of the new Cancer Care Center at Franciscan Health Munster was blessed by the Rev. Francis Tebbe, director of mission services, before standing-room-only crowd of officials, staff members and guests, Nov. 15. The unit opened to patients the next day. The remainder of the multi-million-dollar comprehensive cancer care facility is scheduled to open in late summer 2018. The endoscopy unit offers four procedure rooms and 14 holding-preparation-recovery rooms, along with the latest, high-definition diagnostic equipment.

Manager of Cancer Care Services Roxanne Karnes accepted the award on behalf of St. Mary Medical Center’s entire Cancer Care Support Services Team, Wednesday, April 26, at the Indiana Cancer Consortium’s annual meeting in Indianapolis.
Physicians at Community Hospital in Munster are among the first in Northwest Indiana to use advanced implantable technology, called WATCHMAN™, in patients to help reduce their risk of stroke. Structural/Interventional Cardiologist, Hussam Suradi, MD, Interventional Cardiologist Samer Abbas, MD, and Electrophysiologist William Spear, MD, recently successfully implanted the WATCHMAN left atrial appendage closure device in three patients. The device offers an alternative to long-term blood-thinning warfarin therapy to reduce stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation (A-Fib) not caused by a heart valve issue.
