The Hammond Sportsplex is hosting a Friday Night Ages 30s, 40s and 50s Soccer League. Session 1 is 8 games from October 19th to December 14th. Playoffs will be January 4 and 11, 2019. Eight teams will qualify for playoffs. Team rosters are a 12 player maximum. All players must have a player card. There is a $10 fee for a player card.

Valpo faces the Indiana State/Evansville road swing this weekend before returning home for the first of four consecutive home matches, hosting Southern Illinois on Monday evening. Both Katherine Carlson and Allison Ketcham are poised to hit the 1,000-kill milestone this weekend.

Entering CCAC play for the first time this season, the Calumet College of St. Joseph women's volleyball team were coming off their first win during a 1-1 tri-match on the Whiting, Ind. campus on Saturday afternoon. It looked like the Wave could have easily made it two out of their last three after the first set of this evening matchup, but mental errors and a lack of an offensive attack sent them to a 3-0 less against Governors State on Tuesday evening.
The Valparaiso University women’s golf team has withdrawn from the Golfweek Program Challenge in Pawley’s Island, S.C., forgoing Tuesday’s final round in order to travel back to Indiana prior to the arrival of Hurricane Florence.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana’s John Will Anderson Club in Gary discovered the love for baseball is alive and well in Northwest Indiana! Prior to the start of summer programming, Home Field Advantage Foundation partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana’s John Will Anderson Club with the goal of offering youth, residing in Gary, the opportunity to learn, play and love baseball. Equipment to help start the league was received through Major League Baseball through the efforts of Lloyd McClendon, a Gary Roosevelt product and current coach for the Detroit Tigers.

After her stellar this past weekend's action at the Siena Heights Tournament, junior Caitlin Alwine (JR/Goshen, Ind.) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Defender of the Week, a fitting way to cap of her first four games in a Crimson and Gray uniform.
