St. Paul 7th-8th Grade Team Defeats St. Thomas 3-2 (with Photos)


This past weekend, the St. Paul 7th-8th grade soccer team took a 3-2 victory in a match against a tough St. Thomas More team. St. Thomas came out scoring first with a very good cross in front of the Panther goal. The Panthers came back with a goal of their own ten minutes later when Thomas Walsh drove the ball into the goal at a wide angle past a very capable St. Thomas keeper.

BF Football Roundup vs. Chesterton (with Photos)


The B football team suffered it first loss of the season on Thursday afternoon, losing to Chesterton by a score of 38-20.  After trailing 24-0 at halftime, the offense came alive and scored three touchdowns in the second half.  Justin Osburn, Steve Massa, and Collin Vinyard each ran for touchdowns.  Andrew Lehnen added a two point conversion on a pass from Jacob Gholston.  Justin Osburn and Steve Massa led the rushing attack, rushing for 88 yards and 87 yards respectively.

BFMS Cross Country vs. Chesterton


Wind rain and mud did not deter BF runners last night at Rogers Lakewood. Hosting the Chesterton cross-country team, BF captured four of the six. Our sixth grade boys defeated Chesterton 22-34 behind Dan Dalton’s 8:56 winning time. Evan Wall’s third place finish was followed by Nate Dawson, Mike Gerry and Jared Lasky. Not to be outdone, the sixth grade girls defeated Chesterton 24-32. Ellie Joll paced the tam once again with her second place time of 9:30.

St. Paul Soccer Roundup vs. St. John the Evangelist, Hanover


The 7th-8th grade St. Paul Panthers soccer team handedly won their games this past weekend against St. John the Evangelist and Hanover, winning by scores of 11-2 and 10-2, respectively. In both games, the Panthers came out scoring in the first few minutes, and controlled the pace throughout the games. Against St. John, Evan Fogle, Andrew Page, and Thomas Walsh were responsible for much of the shooting and scoring, though with plenty of help for their teammates, including assists from Nina Hartman and Gareth Kaye.

St. Paul 7th-8th Grade Team Falls to St. Michael's


The 7th-8th grade St. Paul Panthers soccer team came up short against St. Michael’s this past weekend, losing by a score of 6-3. St. Mike’s scored five goals while keeping the Panthers scoreless in the first half, though only out-shooting the Panthers 11 to 9. The Panthers toughed it out and came back in the second half with three goals scored by Thomas Walsh, Andrew Page and Evan Fogle. The Panther defense also did a much better job after halftime, keeping St. Mike’s to just three shots on-goal during the entire second half. However, the damage had been done, much of it by a St. Mike’s player who scored five of their six goals unassisted.

BFMS Football Trounces Hobart 35-6


The 8th grade football team humbled Hobart with a 35-6 win last night. Andrew Sykes completed 5 0f 7 passes for 112 yards to lead the air attack. Angelo Madrigal scored 3 touchdowns, caught 2 passes for 71 yards and rushed for 102 more. Trent Fortson caught 2 passes scored a touchdown and added 26 yards on the ground. TJMS Football Falls to CP Col. Wheeler


Thomas Jefferson’s 8th grade “A” football team lost a hard fought battle to Crown Point Col. Wheeler on Tuesday afternoon 16 to 8. The Vikings scored on a 28 yd. pass play from Spence Sunday to Elliot Granados. Sunday earned the 2 pt conversion on a Quarterback keeper. Matt Ford and Granados combined for 60 yds rushing. Kyle Miller and Jason Sliger made several big plays on defense for the Vikes. Michael Marek recovered an on-side kick.

BFMS Football Opens the Season with 27-0 Victory


The 8th grade football team clobbered Kesling 27-0 yesterday. Angelo Madrigal led the ground attack with 72 yards and a touchdown. Trent Fortson contributed 56 yards and 2 touchdowns, the second one on a pass from Andrew Sykes. Taylor Scheidenberger added 27 yards and a score. Justin Osburn and Jacob Woodward also contributed to the BF ground attack. Caleb Dawson added 3 extra points to the scoring.

TJMS Congratulates the 10,000 Shot Club


Congratulations to the 10 7th and 8th grade girls and boys that were recently inducted to the 10,000 shot club at T.J.M.S. Kyle, Jack, Sam, Dylan, Alex, Jake, Heather, Maggie, Grace, and Shelby spent many hours this summer shooting baskets and logging their shots onto their charts. They all are now members of the TJMS 10,000 Shot Club. Some of the hoopsters shot nearly 20,000 baskets this summer! Way to go!

Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson Track Teams Setting All Kinds of Records


ValpoLife BF TrackAll it takes is a little warm weather for both of the Viking schools to really heat up! The Ben Franklin 8th grade boys defeated another opponent on the track, taking down Portage-Fegley. During the May 7th meet, the team established three new records! Lonnie Pappas was a part of all three records, first by winning the shot-put with a throw of 49 feet and 6 3/4 inches. This distance took down the old record by over a foot.
