On a crisp fall evening, a tradition was upheld in Valparaiso. Two teams, Benjamin Franklin Middle School and Thomas Jefferson Middle School faced off for a special football game. The cross town rivalry between BF and TJ is well-known, so this made for a lively and memorable game.

Friday, September 19 will be "MEET THE VIKES NIGHTS" for Valparaiso Community School Students K- 5th grade. Each student must have the "Meet the Vikes" flyer to be admitted free to the game on Friday night. The Flyers were distributed through the Valparaiso Community Elementary Schools this week. The Varsity Football game between the Valparaiso Vikings and the Chesterton Trojans will begin at 7:00 p.m. Tickets to VHS sporting events are $6 each, Kindergarten and up (Cash only)
Thomas Jefferson Middle School will start their fall sports programs very soon! ALL student athletes MUST have turned in a current physical and concussion acknowledgement form BEFORE than can participate in any practices.
The 6th grade Ginter Reality Hornets finished undefeated (4-0) at the University of Michigan Big House Champions Hoopla. By winning this tournament Ginter now qualifies for the Boo Williams National tournament in Virginia Beach in August.

The Valpo Pop Warner Cheerleading team is headed back to the national finals in the Midget division, with their final routine of the season set for the national stage on December 13 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
The fifth grade volleyball team 1 had an exciting weekend of tournament play. On Saturday, the girls took on St. Mary's Griffith. The team had to come from behind and win after St. Mary's won the first game of the set.
There are three young men that you need to meet. They are local boys who have made their mark on their school in all sorts of positive ways. Football season is over, which has kept them busy and active. But I had the good fortune of having them all together to talk to me.
