The Valparaiso University men’s basketball team made its home debut in MVC play on Sunday afternoon at the ARC, but preseason favorite Missouri State spoiled the Crusaders’ home opener as the Bears sent Valpo to a 67-50 defeat.

PRO U™ announces the addition to another shooting and ball handling basketball session the week of December 27, 28, and 29, 2017. Each session is for Boys and Girls 3rd grade through 12th grade and consist of three days Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. There is availability for session three with an emphasis on fundamentals of basketball and the newly added session five with an emphasis on shooting and ball handling, session two is full.

The Pride struggled offensively connecting on just 31 percent (21-for-68) of their shots from the field.
With Christmas and the holiday break fast approaching, it was important for the Crimson Wave men's basketball team to end the 2017 portion of their schedule on a high note. Welcoming IU-Kokomo to the Rittenmeyer Center, a team they had lost to earlier in the season, proved to be a welcomed challenge and a chance to seek revenge for the loss that ended their historic start to the season. Shaking off a slow start, the Wave passed the test with flying colors, downing the Cougars 89-82 in front of a lively crowd in Whiting.
The varsity wrestling team finished with a record of 3-2 this past weekend at the tough Traicoff Duals. The duals had many ranked teams participating and our wrestlers performed extremely well. Going undefeated on the day were Joey Strickland (120), Jacob Bond (126), Brycen Nylin (132), and Ronnie Deluna (170).
Valparaiso University women’s basketball sophomore Maya Meredith (Indianapolis, Ind. / Cathedral) made her first career start one that won’t soon be forgotten on Friday night at the Athletics-Recreation Center. With teammate Nicole Koneiczny sidelined by an illness, Meredith stepped in as the starting point guard for Valpo’s 99-59 win over IU Northwest. Meredith dished out 16 assists, shattering a single-game program record of 14 that had stood since 1992.

Three individuals and one team will be inducted into the Valparaiso University Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, Feb. 17. Amy Cavanaugh ’00 Cramer, Tom Byrne ’03, Natalie Cortese ’12 and the 1923-1924 men’s basketball team comprise the 21st class in Hall of Fame history.
